May 30th, "American Colors"

As I was looking for my scene today I happened to go around a corner in the little town of Morrison, CO. When I came across this scenically framed American Flag and it made me think, "this flag represents what so many men, women and even children have fought and died for to be in this wonderful country of ours that we call America". Well the next thing you know I was setting up my easel and began to paint this wonderful scene.

May 26th, "Pathway Lilacs"

I love lilacs! so I thought I would like to visit the same Lilac Bush that I had found the day before. I love the colors that lilacs can be and their fragrance, wow, just fantastic!

May 25th, "After The Rain"

Finally the sun broke out this afternoon and when I was looking for something to paint I saw this wonderful Lilac bush and couldn't pass it up.

May 24th, "Rainy Heigths" and "Rainy Front Range"

Today I went to South Denver to do some painting. I was planning to paint the Iris Garden but when I got there the Iris were not in bloom yet. So I found a nice park with some great views to paint. Even though it was rainy the scenery was inspiring enough that I did two paintings.

May 23rd, "Torch Bearer"

I found a great model to pose for me today. I saw a wonderful statue at the cemetery and thought I would try painting her. Unfortunately about halfway into the painting a hugh lighting and rain storm moved in and made for a rather quick painting. I look forward to returning and trying this one again. I think I may also do a studio piece of her as well. I find the statue just beautiful.

May 22nd, "Congrats Grad"

This weekend was a special one with the celebration of the Graduation of my son from High School!  After the celebration I thought how fitting this scene was with the symbology of crossing over for our Grad. Going from a high school grad to becoming, a Collage Man.

May 21st, Cotton Wood Creek Trail.

What a nice day it started out as today. Unfortunately by time I started to paint the rain began. I had a few unexpected stops due to the rain and lighting. But all in all it was a great day to paint

May 20th, Bear Creek Bever Ponds

It was another chilly day today but at least the sun was out. While on my daily drive I found a great little beaver pond to paint. Beaver Ponds and little mountain creeks remind me of being a teen, going to the hills and fishing. So when I saw this one I couldn't resist doing a painting.

May 19th, "Snowy Spring Path"

Wow, I can't believe it rained, again. Actual, most of the day it snowed. But that is why I love where I live. I found a quiet pathway with some great color and knew this was where I needed to paint.

May 18th, "Heating Denver"

Rain again. Well at least I got a break in between showers to do a painting of the steam clouds from Public Service. Since being a kid I have always found these clouds quite fascinating and I couldn't resist painting them.

May 17, "Drizzly Denver Skyline"

Another rainy day. Oh well, we need the moisture here in Colorado. I thought it might be a good day to try a hazy, rainy skyline. So, down the mountain I went and found a great view of Denver from Green Mountain.

May 16th, "Evergreen Pelican"

After a few days of rain and snow the weather broke, and wow, it is so green now. Also for the past few days we have had a visitor to Evergreen Lake, a "Pelican". Since it was sunny and warm, I thought what a good day today is to hang out by the lake and paint the Pelican. At first he did a great pose and just as I was about to paint it somebody let there dog loose and scared the pelican out to the water. That's when I decided to paint him. I figured he would be swimming for awhile. Just as I thought, he did, and as I finished painting him, he swam up a little closer and posed. It was great!

The fist pose I was going to try before he swam away.

May 15th, "Misty Mounatin Top"

This weekend was spent doing the Conifer Home and Garden Show. Great show, full of fantastic venders of all variety. If you ever get the chance to go I would recommend it. Since I was at the top-ish of the mountain I though I would paint the moody scene that surrounded me.

May 14th, "Brook Forest View"

Today I was under the weather, both literary and figuratively. It was a mix of rain and snow and I had a mix of a stomach and a head bug. Hard to paint when nothing will stay in you and your head is throbbing, but, the painting must go on. So I found a nice quiet but close to home spot to paint at today.

May 12th, Barn side Lilacs

I love our Colorado Springs. I had 5" of snow at my house today so I thought... time to head down the hill to paint some " Lilacs by the barn" 8x10"

May 11th, Rainy Day Refinery

Today I went down the hill to paint. I thought the refinery in my old home town would make for a great subject on a cold and rainy day. Or perhaps I just didn't want to paint in the snow at my house. Either way the misty rain was nice and I enjoyed painting the refinery.

May 10th, Spring Time Greens.

I saw these wonderful greens yesterday and thought "I need to paint these trees". I love the hues of green.

I think I'll come back here and do another before it changes completely.

May 8th, Tranquil Reflections.

What a wonderful warm Mother's Day today was. I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. I would like to give a BIG HUG and KISS to all the mom's that I know, you truly deserve more than just one day!

Today was quite warm, so I decided to look for some place shady to paint, and boy did I find a nice spot in the Denver West area. While I painted, my daughter kept her lovely mother and my beautiful wife company until I finished painting.

May 7th, Colorful view from Wyoming.

Today I found myself painting in Wyoming. Why Wyoming? First my nephew graduated from Wyoming University in  Laramie, as a Magna Cum Laude with an degree in Computer Engineering. "Congratulations Mark!!!"

What a neat town, I look very forward to going back there this summer. Also, I had a chance to drop off some new art work at Link Gallery in Cheyenne. If your in Cheyenne and would like to see some great art please drop in. Don't forget to say hello to Rebecca and Mike.

On the way home I deiced to go Hwy 287 to Ft Collins. Wow! what a diverse landscape this part of the country has, just beautiful!  I found a nice place to pull over that had a fantastic view. So I broke out the paints and began to have some fun!

May 6th "Adobe Light"

I was out driving an noticed the great shadows on "The Fort" in Morrison, CO. and had to stop and do some painting. The morning light and shadows were fantastic, the only down side was how fast they changed.

Hanging out at the "Fort" the food smelled so good!

May 5th "Table Mesa Blossoms"

What a nice day today was! Warm weather and great color along Table Mesa in Golden Colorado. I found an apple tree in bloom that had the north mesa as a wonderful backdrop. It looked more like a scene from New Mexico than Colorado. As a painter I love the variety of landscape that Colorado has!
