October 31, "Hallowen Grave Yard"

Happy Halloween! Today I wanted to paint something fitting for the day and what better of a subject than a grave yard. To give it that time of the year feel I decide to do my painting in a limited palette. A limited palette is the use of just 2-3 colors. I chose Black, White and Yellow Ocre.

October 30, "Winter Walk"

I was up in Central City this late afternoon and was chasing the light when I stumbled upon this wonderful patch of aspens. I went for a walk into them and when I turned around to look back, it hit me this is the spot for today. The light was great for almost missing it.

October 29, "Willow Path"

What a nice day turned out to be, for October. Today I went down to Lair O The Bear to paint the willows. They have been so colorful for the past week and I figured I better paint them before the color was gone. I went down to one of my favorite spots and began to have some fun.

"A Touch Of Each Season"
Well it was a little warmer today and my van started up today. I thought I would drive down Bear Creek Canyon today when this great tree. When I saw it it had every color of each season on it. I though it was a wonderful little scene to paint.

October 27, "Winter Brush"

Well I got off to a late start today due to a dead battery, got to love winter. On the way out I drove past one of my favorite brush to paint. It was all a glow so as usual I set the equipment up and began to paint. When I was finished and getting ready to take my location photo a local deiced to walk into the shot, she's at the bottom right side of the photo. This is one of the many reasons I love painting en Alla Prima Plein Air.

October 26, "Abstract Winter Reeds"

Wow what a snow storm we had today. I deiced to go out and see how the cattails looked, and like usual they looked great. I found a nice place to park and set up my easel. Today the scene had an abstract look to me, so this was how I painted it.

When I had a break I went painting and found some great Cottonwoods to paint. This was my second trip in two weeks to Parker and all I can say is what a nice place it was to paint at!

October 21, "Autumn Reflections"

It was a great fall day today. The temperature was perfect for Plein Air Painting and the light was fantastic. I went to Prospect Park today, what a nice little park. I painted the view of the foothills across the lake. The reflection was just so colorful and calm that it looked like a mirror.

No Picture today. I couldn't find my camera in my van. I put it in that special safe spot and then I couldn't remember where that spot was at the end of the painting day. After about an hour of tearing the van apart I finally found my camera. It was in my paint bag, next to my feet, all day long. In the special pocket that I never use. Well at least it was safe, from me.

Today I painted with the Plein Air Artist of Colorado at the wonderful home of Jean Widman a fantastic artist herself. I found this old tree full of character that just screamed "Paint Me". The only down side was I forgot my camera. I hope I captured the fall light  well enough.

October 9, "Echo Lake"

Today I was planning to paint some Aspens up on Squaw pass. As I drove Squaw Pass I noticed how the snow really took a toll on the aspens and I wondered what Echo lake looked like with the fresh snow. So I headed up the pass to Echo Lake. All I can say is I'm glad that I changed my mind.

October 8, "Frozen Fruit"

Today was the first day of snow in the Evergreen and Denver area. I went out planing to do a landscape scene of the snow fall, when I came upon this little fruit tree frozen in time. For some reason it was far more appealing to me than the big scene. I enjoy finding subjects that I normally may over look by trying to find "The Big Scene".

October 7, "Exploding Color"

I was out today when I saw this old cotton wood tree along a dirt road exploding with color. I found the colors to be wonderful and so I began to paint. About half way through the painting the wind deiced to kick up and well, fortunately for me I had started with the tree, because after about 10 minuets of the wind only half the leaves were left.
