Today I need to finish up a studio painting so I thought I would go out early and capture some of the great cool colors of the shadows and warmth of the warm reeds.

December 6, "Christmas Pledge"

Tonight I was out looking for my scene when out of the corner of my eye I saw these trees glowing and when I got closer I noticed there was a flag pole and large granite base with something written on it. As I moved closer I could see it read "and the Republic for which it stands..." as I read this I new this was what I needed to paint tonight. A bonus for me was the wonderful light that the half moon and Jupiter brought to the night sky.

December 5, "Holiday Perch"

Today I couldn't go out at night but I did find this adorable mail bow that I just had to paint.

December 4, "Adobe Lights"

Tonight I found myself drawn to a local building that I have admired for years and tonight before the heavy snow began to fall I quickly did a painting of it.

December 3, "Red Hot Christmas"

I love the night lights! Tonight i found a nice little tree just glowing with a wonderful warm red glow and I couldn't resist painting it.

December 2, "Lake House Lights"

Tonight was the lighting of the Evergreen Lake House Tree and it was also the night Santa Comes to town. I had planned on painting the tree lights but I was also given another surprise. I actually got to see Santa, not only was he there he was on his motorcycle. If you know me or my art I am also known as the guy who does paintings of motorcycles. Now I know what my next Motorcycle painting will be, Santa on his bike!

December 1, "Mountain Christmas Tree"

Wow I can't believe that it's December and another year is almost over. That means the end of my 3 year painting journey. I'm actually a little sad that this journey is ending. I would love to be able to continue it indefinitely. It is my passion to go out and paint. I'm not sure what is in-store for me next I just hope it will be as enjoyable as the past three years have been.

December is my month of lights to paint. It is one of the best months of the year because of the vast variety of scenes. Even though it means going out at night when it is a little colder and a little harder to see your palette, there is nothing like trying to capture the wonder that is the night lights of Christmas.
